Hey Reader,
I've had a post about my hike to the famous Bitoujiao Trail, but there's something new I'd like to share with you: Wave Crashing Camp Cafe, a new cafe at Bitoujiao.
Highlights about this hike:
Bitoujiao Trail is one of my favorite trails in Ruifang. The trail is easy, with amazing views of mountains and rock formations. When I heard a new cafe was open in 2020, I always wanted to pay a visit. I finally made it in 2023.
To reach this cafe, taking steps is the only option. Yet, the beautiful mountains and ocean will make you forget the annoying steps.
This cafe used to be a military camp and had been abandoned for 20 years. To embrace the transformation, the once-dark camouflage pants became colorful.
There is still one military camp at the top of the hill. I have to say it's tempting to walk to the top to see Bitoujiao Lighthouse again. But I am not keen to risk getting a hefty fine. The rest of Bitoujiao is excellent enough to wander.
If the weather isn't scorching hot or freezing, enjoying your beverage on the rooftop will be great.
If you are adventurous, you can explore a small footpath in front of the cafe a little further to see the impressive cliffs and rocks. But please don't go too far. The trail ahead is not clear and may not be safe.
After you are ready to resume your hike, take the steps up and back to Bitoujiao Valley Trail to enjoy the incredible landscape in Ruifang.
Here's the new bus schedule:
To reach the bus stop at Ruifang Train Station, you need to turn left and pass the police department. The distance is around 300 meters from Ruifang Train Station.
Besides Wave Crashing Cafe, I also hiked to Mt. Bitou (118m) and have put the details in my Bitoujiao post.
Another thing is I may not be able to catch up with my posting schedule in the following months. The first reason is my father is ill, and I sometimes have to rush to the hospital in Kaohsiung. The second reason is that I am updating my old posts, which I have planned but haven't started yet.
I'm sorry about the delay, and I appreciate your understanding. Stay healthy, and talk to you later.

As 2024 comes to a close, it has been an unusual year here in Taiwan. We faced devastating earthquakes that forced us to pause our pride, Taroko, and we dealt with an overwhelming number of typhoons in October and November. Many activities were interrupted by these natural disasters. However, as they say, “Man plans and God laughs.” Yet, there are still many good things in 2024. I traveled to Europe for 3 weeks, did my first high mountain solo hike to Yushan North Peak this month, did a 3-day...
